Early Matchbox Twenty Secret To Be Revealed

Rob Thomas’ pre-Matchbox Twenty recordings are finally seeing the light of day, thanks to a former bandmate who spent a half a decade trying to put “the nail in the group’s coffin.” Don’t Play With Matches, the only studio album by Tabitha’s Secret (which featured Matchbox Twenty bassist Brian Yale and drummer Paul Doucette as well as Thomas), is due for October 9 release. Guitarist Jay Stanley – who, along with guitarist John Goff, parted ways with the band in 1995 – fought a five-year legal battle to get the album released. “It’s about putting the past behind me, putting… Read more »

The 20-year-old pop singer said she and the 21-year-old Carter, who dated for three years, didn’t talk at first after breaking up in October, but now they’re friends again. “We learned a lot together. Mom Says She Knows Different A.J.

The A.J. McLean who entered rehab for alcohol abuse and depression isn’t the real A.J. McLean, his mother says. Denise McLean, the Backstreet Boy’s mother, still calls her 23-year-old son “Alex,” and recalls that as a little boy, he dreamed of stardom. “A.J. is the bad boy, crazy boy on stage that… does, you know, makes all those pelvic thrusts and does all this stuff to drive the girls crazy,” she says in an interview with ABC News’ “20/20,” scheduled to air at 10 p.m. EDT Friday. “And A.J. is the one that got the tattoos, and A.J.’s the one… Read more »

STP, Live Enliven Beer Bash

If last year’s inaugural Rolling Rock Town Fair was the beta edition, this year’s event, billed as Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0, definitely was an improved version -logistically, at least. Musically, it could be argued that, while Saturday’s headliners Live and Stone Temple Pilots really delivered, they were no match for last year’s Moby and the Red Hot Chili Peppers combo. The daylong event at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, an hour or so southeast of Pittsburgh (concert traffic notwithstanding), also featured metal-minded modern rockers Deftones, Incubus, Staind, Tantric and Oleander… and, of course, beer. The entire event, in marketing terms, is… Read more »

It’s scheduled to open in spring 2002. The museum already has obtained memorabilia from several teen-idols, including David Cassidy, Debbie Gibson, New Kids on the Block, Neil Sedaka… Read more »
