Nick Carter Competes in Boat Race


Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter is once again at the top of the charts – this time in high-speed powerboat racing. The 22-year-old pop star watched his team, Nick Carter Racing, win the first race of this year’s American Power Boat Association Offshore Tour on Sunday. Nick Carter to Make Boating Debut


Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys will sing the national anthem before the American Power Boat Association Super Vee race in Daytona Beach, Florida. The race will also be the debut of Nick Carter racing. He in entering his new 43-foot powerboat in the contest. He tells the News-Journal of Daytona Beach it’s going to hard to earn respect among the racers because he is an entertainer, but he says he and his family are going out there to win, not just show off. Pearlman Cleared of Child Labor Suit


Lou Pearlman, the hitmaker behind the Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync, has been cleared of allegations that he broke child labor laws. The Florida Department of Labor said there was no evidence that Pearlman and his Orlando-based company, Trans Continental Entertainment, violated such rules as making minors work past 11:30 p.m, as alleged by the mother of two of his former entertainers. Kenneth W. Nickelback, Saliva, Pearl Jam Members Make 'Hero' Sandwich For Spidey


The web of intrigue surrounding the “Spider-Man” soundtrack continues to grow, but a few additional details have emerged from the sticky strands. An anthem called “Hero,” a collaboration between Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, Saliva vocalist Josey Scott, Theory of a Dead Man guitarist Tyler Connolly and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron will be the second single on the album, a source close to Nickelback said. Def Leppard Bringing on "X"


Def Leppard are putting the finishing touches on their tenth album, tentatively titled “X” and due later this year. The band recorded the follow-up to 1999’s Euphoria last year in Los Angeles and Sweden, with drummer Rick Allen adding his parts last December in Dublin. Web music service Pressplay in deal with Zomba


Online subscription music service Pressplay said Monday it signed a deal to distribute music from independent label Zomba Recording Corp., whose actsinclude Britney Spears, ‘NSYNC. the Backstreet Boys, R. Kelly and “Weird” Al Yankovic. Los Angeles- and New York-based Pressplay is a joint venture of Sony Music Entertainment, a unit of Sony Corp. and Universal Music Group, a unit of Vivendi Universal. Pressplay also distributes music from EMI Group and some small labels. As with Pressplay’s other deals, the Zomba contract is not exclusive, Pressplay said.
