Butch Walker Prefers Avril's Fans Over Booing Punks

Having his solo debut tank might have been the best thing for Butch Walker’s career. Not too many people bought 2002’s Left of Self-Centered – the album sold barely 20,000 copies, according to SoundScan – but many of those who did adored the smart riff-rock from the guy who used to front the late-’90s power trio Marvelous 3. Not only did Walker sing and play all the instruments except drums, he also produced, mixed and engineered the LP. Such versatile qualities appealed to a lot of people, not least of whom was Avril Lavigne. “Obviously, it was a very unpopular… Read more »

Lavigne Says Fake Pop Starlets Are 'Pathetic'

With Ashlee Simpson in the news this week following a disastrous lip-synching appearance on “Saturday Night Live,” Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne says it’s “pathetic” that some young artists don’t sing on their own record or on stage. While she can relate to the pressures of learning how to play live and work an audience for the first time, Lavigne says she takes exception to the practice of lip-synching. “You know what? There are a lot of people out there today, who have become stars or famous musicians – I wouldn’t really define them as a star – with a… Read more »

Sum 41 Management Deny Deryck/Avril Wedding Rumours

Sum 41’s management company Bunk Rock (headed by Greig Nori) have released a statement refuting reports of the pop-punk couple’s impending nuptials. “Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 is not engaged,” the statement reads. “Deryck and his friends are constantly followed by paparazzi. The recent ‘breaking news’ that has been misconstrued around the world exemplifies the media’s constant invasion of people’s personal lives and reporting of unsubstantiated rumors and/or appearances. “If there was a picture that captured Deryck kneeling, it was more likely him bending over to pick up the crack pipe that fell out of the paparazzi’s pocket than him… Read more »

Avril's Stalker Boi Busted Again

She may put on a tough front, but surly teen pop star Avril Lavigne has once again enlisted the help of the courts to stop a persistent stalker boi from harassing her and her family. Avril Confirms That Jesse's Out And Craig Is In

When news broke earlier this week that Avril Lavigne’s rhythm guitarist Jesse Colburn had been ousted from the band, Lavigne herself was caught a little off guard that the news caused such a commotion. Seeing as Colburn is heavily rumoured to be Avril’s ex-boyfriend, the switch-up in Lavigne’s band has certainly got the gossip mill churning. Lavigne isn’t about to throw more fuel on that fire by elaborating on Colburn’s reasons for leaving (the official party line is that he left to pursue other projects), but she did confirm that he is no longer in the band. “No,” Lavigne responded… Read more »
