Avril Lavigne has penciled in an April 17 release for her new RCA album, “The Best Damn Thing.” As previously reported , the first single is “Girlfriend”; it will arrive March 5 at U.S. radio outlets, and its accompanying video will premiere Feb. 26 on MTV. Canadian punk/pop phenom Avril Lavigne will be hitting 15 different cities across Canada when her cross-nation tour kicks off in July. The first date is July 13 in London. From there, Avril will be hitting up Ottawa and Toronto, before hightailing it to the Prairies and BC. Finally, Avril will hit the Maritimes before wrapping things up in Quebec. VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Concert-goers and performers alike sang and danced as Canadian artists such as Avril Lavigne and Sarah McLachlan took the stage for a tsunami relief fundraiser. A capacity crowd of 18,000 happy revelers packed Vancouver’s GM Place Saturday night for a sold-out show, featuring Lavigne, McLachlan, Delerium, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida and Sum 41 and the Barenaked Ladies. New York – Along with several large concerts in the planning stages, artists around the world are putting on their own benefit shows or donating to funds for the victims of the recent tsunami in Southern Asia. Sting will play a Feb. 10 concert at the Leeuwin Estate Winery in Perth, Australia, with 100% of the net proceeds donated to the relief efforts.
