If you had one shot, one opportunity to own Eminem’s handwritten “Lose Yourself” lyrics, would you capture it or just let it slip? Well, here’s your shot. A framed lithograph of the scribbled lines to the “8 Mile” anthem is being auctioned to raise funds for Los Angeles cancer research and treatment facility City of Hope. The lyrics, which are autographed by Eminem and “Lose Yourself” producers Jeff Bass and Luis Resto, had at press time garnered the Songs of Hope auction’s highest bid, $10,600. Avril Lavigne’s words to “I’m With You,” written on Time Square’s W Hotel stationery, is… Read more »
Country star Shania Twain didn’t get her wish when she won three prizes at the 32nd annual Juno Awards, Canada’s equivalent of the Grammys, over the weekend. After winning the Country Recording of the Year nod at the untelevised ceremony in Ottawa on Saturday, she had said she would prefer not to win anything at the next day’s televised event because she wanted to concentrate on her role as host. Alas, she ended up nabbing the Artist of the Year and Fan Choice Awards the next day. “I’m here to host the show and perform,” Twain said Saturday at a… Read more »

Additional performers and artists who will give testimony to the… Read more »
An elementary school is cashing in on a wardrobe decision by pop singer Avril Lavigne. She wears a Wilkesboro Elementary School T-shirt in the video for her song “Sk8er Boi.” The green-and-gold T-shirts hadn’t been sold for at least four years, but with the Canadian singer giving them new currency, the school’s Parent Teacher Organization ordered 500. Principal Mike Dancy said he learned from a Canadian writer that Lavigne probably found the shirt in a New York thrift store. The writer was doing a story on how the singer popularizes almost everything she wears, he said. About 300 of the… Read more »
You can tell Fred Durst’s been kind of down lately by the way he’s all agitated when responding to the have-you-and-Britney-been-dating questions and, more importantly, the fact that he’s not sporting his usual jaunty red baseball cap. At the 45th annual Grammy Awards in New York he wore a brown cap, an olive T-shirt over a gray long-sleeve top, and a sour though resolved expression when he admitted that he and Britney were seeing each other for a while, before she “played him out.” Durst was pretty much alone in his dressed-down look at the event, however. The men, everyone… Read more »
Multiple Grammy nominee Avril Lavigne picked up six nominations Wednesday for the Junos, Canada’s music awards, including new artist and album of the year for her hit debut release “Let Go.” Shania Twain, who will host the April 6 ceremony at the Corel Center in the Ottawa suburb of Kanata, received five mentions, including album (“Up!”) and artist of the year. Four nominations each went to Celine Dion, Our Lady Peace and Remy Shand. Dion is squaring off against Alanis Morissette, Twain, Shand and Daniel Belanger for artist of the year. Our Lady Peace is vying for group of the… Read more »
Ground control to Avril Lavigne: It’s David Bowie, like doughy – not Bowie, like Howie. That’s how the 18-year-old Canadian singer pronounced the veteran rock star’s name when the Grammy nominations were announced Tuesday. Lavigne was helping announce the nominees for best male rock vocal performance at Madison Square Garden when she made the gaffe, pronouncing Bowie’s name like “Howie.” When an Associated Press reporter told her afterward that she’d flubbed Bowie’s name, Lavigne said: “Oops! I knew that was going to happen, I knew I was going to pronounce someone’s name wrong.” Lavigne – that’s pronounced luh-VEEN – received… Read more »
After a run of 22 weeks that few could have predicted, Avril Lavigne’s debut album, Let Go, has finally dropped from the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart, slipping to Number 11. But it took an onslaught of new releases to push the album from the upper-reaches, including new releases from such heavy hitters as Eminem, *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake, U2, and the Dave Matthews Band. Still, Let Go is hardly selling poorly. Spurred on by its blockbuster hit “Complicated” and the follow-up, “Sk8r Boi,” the triple-platinum effort experienced sales of just more than 100,000, according to sources, or… Read more »
Ludacris, Avril Lavigne and Disturbing tha Peace will perform during the 2002 MTV Video Music Awards Opening Act, the precursor to the actual awards show on August 29th at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. The latest group of performers joins an already long list of main event acts, including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eminem, the Hives, Sheryl Crow, Ja Rule and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. Brandy, Usher, Linkin Park and P.O.D. have been added to the cast of presenters. Saturday Night Live’s Jimmy Fallon, who releases The Bathroom Wall on August 27th, will host.
LØLØ dives into her writing process—both for herself and with other artists—and how stepping into someone else’s creative brain can break writer’s block wide open. She talks about the song she just had to keep for herself (“u & the tin man”), her love for Taylor Swift, and the dream collaborations she’s still manifesting (Green Day, YUNGBLUD, and more).
From sneaking Easter eggs into her music and videos to building a Wizard Of Oz universe on her album and on stage—complete with a yellow brick road—LØLØ reveals how her favorite movies fuel her creativity (yes, she’s that girl who still checks the mailbox for a Hogwarts letter. Can you blame her?!)
The conversation covers everything from her Halloween stage outfits to shouting out icons like Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff, Maggie Lindemann, and the legacy of Warped Tour acts like Simple Plan and New Found Glory—plus a moment of gratitude for being discovered by NFG’s Chad Gilbert.
LØLØ also gets candid about not being allowed to go to concerts as a kid (“Hi, Mom!”) and how surreal it is to now be part of the very scene she grew up idolizing. And yes—she’s ready to play “Hot Girls In Hell” on Warped Tour… even if she wrote a song called “Poser” just in case.
