A Clear Channel spokesperson has confirmed that the list has been circulated among its stations across the country. Courtney Love and Don Henley will lead a charge of pop artists at a hearing in the California state legislature on Wednesday to denounce what they claim are corrupt business practices by big recording companies. The hearing takes place against the backdrop of several bitter lawsuits against major labels by acts like Love and the Dixie Chicks, who allege “unconscionable” contracts and accounting practices by the recording conglomerates. Live365 has sent a letter to its private broadcasters to notify them of several changes to the company’s service, including a pay structure for new broadcasters. “We’ve exceeded 40,000 broadcasters, so we wanted to thank everybody that got us there, so we’ve basically grandfathered the free thing. Warped Tour 2001 closes on Sunday (August 12) in Pontiac, Michigan at the Phoenix Plaza Amphitheater. The tour has been described as a “punk rock summer camp” and this year is no exception. However, there have been a few cases of fighting between the acts on the bill. In fact, D12 and Esham were kicked off the tour a week ago for fighting. If last year’s inaugural Rolling Rock Town Fair was the beta edition, this year’s event, billed as Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0, definitely was an improved version -logistically, at least. Musically, it could be argued that, while Saturday’s headliners Live and Stone Temple Pilots really delivered, they were no match for last year’s Moby and the Red Hot Chili Peppers combo.
