The Britney And Justin Mystery: Why They Won't Come Clean

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake love each other very much and have not broken up. At least that’s still the “official” stance a spokesperson for the couple takes when asked of the status of their relationship. And if you believe that, some might think you were born yesterday. The official media statement is in direct opposition to a month’s worth of unconfirmed reports and anonymous eyewitness accounts that say the king and queen of the teen-pop prom have ended their reign. While public opinion favors the notion that the romance is kaput – gossip columnists citing Britney shakin’ it with… Read more »

Blink-182 Whip Out The 'Tommy Lee' In Attempt To Beat Green Day At Tour Launch – Review

With nearly a decade of hits to their name and a command of large audiences that would put Tony Robbins to shame, Green Day are a hard act to follow. No wonder, then, that Blink-182 took a page from one of rock’s biggest bad boys Wednesday night in an attempt to avoid being overshadowed. Facing an opening-night Pop Disaster Tour crowd that had expended most of its energy during Green Day’s set, Mark, Tom and Travis found that even their onstage fireballs were no match for the ones their elder peers had singed the Centennial Garden with less than an… Read more »

A Florida judge sentenced Salvador Martinez, 19, Richard Olivarez, 20, Marcus Cook, 19, and Matthew Daily, 18, each to three years’ probation Thursday after they pleaded no contest to raiding the ex-couple’s rented vacation home in the Panhandle town of Destin, Florida, the Northwest Florida Daily News reports. Next Fallout Single Won't Be Determined By Default

Their video for “Deny,” starring Muhammad Ali ‘s daughter Laila Ali, is nearing release, and the hard-rockin’ song is going strong on radio, but Default are already planning their next single. Vocalist Dallas Smith would love to hear the propulsive “Sick & Tired” booming across the radio, but he’s aware that marketing two heavy songs back-to-back might not be the best career move, and he and his bandmates can’t agree on a softer track to push. So they’re leaving it up to their fans to vote on the Default Web site for the next single from Fallout (2001). ” ‘Live… Read more »

Vedder Rambles, Green Day Scramble As Ramones Enter Hall

A mohawked Eddie Vedder put the regal Waldorf-Astoria hotel in a punk rock state of mind Monday night when he inducted the Ramones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Nearing the end of his 17-minute speech, Vedder said, “After this, I’m sure the evening will move quickly, but it’s the Ramones and it’s punk rock and I’m just about finished and I hope you’re OK with that.” The crowd’s response included some jeers and boos. “Apparently you’re not. F– you,” he replied. But overall, the night was filled with special moments – including a Talking Heads induction and… Read more »

Mandy Moore Gets Naughty In New Film, Works On Next Album

For her second starring movie role, Mandy Moore is hoping to break from the goody-goody image she conveyed in her last film, “A Walk to Remember,” in which she played a minister’s naive teenage daughter who falls in love with the high school hunk. In the independent film “Try Seventeen,” which starts filming March 16 in Vancouver, Moore will play a more world-wise 21-year-old gal from the Midwest who knows a thing or two about partying and hanky-panky. The movie stars “Lord of the Rings” hero Elijah Wood as a 17-year-old who lies about his age to get into college… Read more »

Kurt Cobain Diaries Expected In Stores This Fall

Avoiding what was expected to be an intense bidding war over Kurt Cobain’s journals, a New York imprint snapped up the world publishing rights on Monday for a seven-figure sum. Publishers who got an advance look at the diaries were told to submit their bids by 11 a.m. on Monday, but the auction was called off around 10 a.m. after a deal was struck with Riverhead Books, a division of Penguin Putnam. “The journals are an intimate, unadulterated portrait of an artist of great influence,” Riverhead’s Julie Grau, who will be the project’s editor, said in a statement released Tuesday… Read more »

Wes Borland: Why He Left Limp Bizkit

The more time Wes Borland spent in Limp Bizkit, the more things around him turned black. First his wardrobe – draping cloaks that brought to mind one of his favorite characters, Darth Vader. Then his eyes – gripping contacts that, next to his flaring nostrils, made him look like a guitar-toting monster. His heart was the next to go. “Bells start going off, like, ‘This is what it feels like to sell out,’” Borland recalled. “I’m enjoying all the perks of [Limp Bizkit], but I feel my heart is going black, because this is not what I’m called to do.… Read more »

System Of A Down had to stop its set on Friday (January 18) at the Big Day Out festival in Auckland, New Zealand due to problems with the barricades in front of the stage, which collapsed during the band’s performance. However, NME reported that no one was hurt in the incident. System Of A Down resumed its set later in the night after a second-stage band, Shihad, played. A statement by the organizers… Read more »

Universal settles Calif. lawsuit with performers

A Los Angeles judge has tentatively approved a deal requiring record giant Universal Music to pay $4.75 million in back royalties to as many as 300 performers to settle a class-action lawsuit led by torch singer Peggy Lee, court papers showed Wednesday. Lee, 81, was the lead plaintiff in the two-year court case that claimed that Universal, a unit of Vivendi Universal, failed to pay her and other artists – many of whom are now dead – millions of dollars by underreporting sales figures and overcharging for services. Legal experts said this was the first class-action lawsuit on behalf of… Read more »
