Kanye works with Coldplay


Chris Martin will feature on the new Kanye West album, the hip hop icon has revealed. The Coldplay star appeared on “Beach Chair,” a track on Kingdom Come, Jay-Z’s return to the hip-hop world, last year. Kanye has now revealed that he and Martin have recorded a song called “Homecoming,” which is scheduled to be the first single from the follow-up to Late Registration. The LP is provisionally titled Graduation and is tentatively due for release towards the end of 2007, reports Billboard. Downloads drive Detroit to update audio systems


Struggling U.S. auto manufacturers are hoping music will do for them what it did for Apple after the introduction of the iPod — make them cool. And in so doing, they aim to attract a new generation of car buyers who expect digital entertainment at all times. Two-thirds of 2007-model cars will enable users to connect MP3 players to factory-installed stereos. Senators introduce bill to restrict Internet, cable, and satellite radio recording


A new bill introduced in the US Senate this week would force satellite, digital, and Internet radio providers (but not over-the-air radio) to implement measures designed to restrict the ability of listeners to record audio from the services. Called the “Platform Equality and Remedies for Rights Holders in Music Act” (PERFORM), the bill is sponsored by Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Joseph Biden (D-DE), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), and Lindsey Graham (R-SC). If the name of the bill sounds familiar, it should. Dengue Fever Sign with Bug Music and Kork Agency


2007 plans to be a big year for the Cambodian rock band Dengue Fever. Bloc Party Unveils March North American Tour Plans


Bloc Party is hitting the road in support of its forthcoming Vice/Atlantic effort, “A Weekend in the City.” The British rock troupe will kick off the tour on March 11 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle and will continue on through a March 30-31 New York stand.
