Vans, Inc. today announced that Andrew J. Greenebaum, Chief Financial Officer, has decided to leave his position for personal reasons, effective as of August 30, 2003. In conjunction with Mr. Greenebaum’s resignation, Scott J. Blechman has been appointed the Company’s Chief Financial Officer. The Shortlist Organization announced today the complete “Long List” of eighty-six nominations for the 2003 Shortlist Music Prize, as selected by a panel of “Listmakers” including Flea, Erykah Badu, Perry Farrell, Chris Martin (Coldplay), and the directors Spike Jonze and Cameron Crowe. The ten finalists for the award will be announced in early September, and the third annual Shortlist Music Prize will be presented at a multi-artist concert on October 16th at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. Fledgling rockers generally don’t make much money, so when a good Samaritan found and returned $7,000 belonging to pop-punk band Eleventeen, he was smothered with thanks. “They were hugging me, they couldn’t believe it,” said Frank Gawronski, who found the loose bills along a highway. “It was kind of a nice feeling. Melisma/Atlantic rock group matchbox twenty is returning to the North American concert circuit this fall for a major cross-continental tour. Slated to open on September 24th in Tallahassee, Florida, the itinerary will keep the band on the road through the end of the year. The first two weeks of shows have just been announced, with more dates being added daily. In early July, matchbox wrapped up a ten-week headlining tour of North America, and the quintet has just returned from a sold-out arena tour of Australia. The amusement park has banned controversial rocker Marilyn Manson from performing at Six Flags Darien Lake on August 11 when the 2003 Ozzfest tour rolls into town, claiming his act is inappropriate for the venue. (Shhh. Don’t tell ’em about Ozzy’s satanic past-maybe they missed the bat-chomping story?) Deftones lead singer Chino Moreno has suffered what doctors are calling a “severe groin injury,” necessitating the cancellation of two of the band’s headlining off-dates on the current Summer Sanitarium tour with Metallica, Linkin Park and others. The canceled concerts are Tuesday, August 5th at the Salt Air Pavilion in Salt Lake City, Utah and Wednesday, August 6th at the Big Easy in Boise, Idaho. The group is then expected to rejoin the Summer Sanitarium tour for its remaining dates in early August, although Moreno will be required to restrict his on-stage movements.
