We’ve been listening to Juliet Simms for almost ten years now so we couldn’t have been more excited to listen to her new EP ‘From The Grave’. This record is straight rock n roll and her best work yet. Hear the full review here and read the transcript below:

What’s up idobi.com, it is Fish, and I am here to review Juliet Simms’ new EP. It is called From The Grave. It is her second release as a solo artist and it is very special to me because we’re approaching the ten year anniversary of when I first heard Juliet’s voice, singing for Automatic Loveletter. Got to see her on The Voice, been following her career, got to see her on Warped 2015; she still played some of those Automatic Loveletter songs I first fell in love with.
But, enough about my personal connection with Juliet Simms and her music. Let’s talk about the new EP because it needs to be talked about. We have the opening track “Get Ready”, which sets the tone for the EP; it’s very raw, very emotional, and you just hear that all in her voice. You can tell there is no overproduction on her voice at all. Her voice has always been very raw but this is the rawest I’ve heard it, and very raspy, and that is a very unique feature I feel, with female-fronted bands. Usually it’s very clean, but Juliet has a very rock n roll voice to her. She takes her pop rock roots and combines them with a Joan Jett-esque feel to it give her music a very classic rock sound.
This whole EP is very rock n roll as a whole, especially songs like, like I said, “Get Ready”, “Say Hello”, “My Last Whiskey Tears”, and I get chills listening to Juliet’s voice, I’m not gonna lie, just because you can tell there’s so much emotion in it. Emotion and raw is something I’m stressing a lot in this review. Then obviously you have songs, “Tidal Wave”—awesome song; “Trouble Finds You”—great song as well. All the songs are very solid. Then you cut to the last track, “Found Missing”—couldn’t think of a better way to end the EP. I’m pretty sure it is done live because you do have the applause at the end, and you could just envision being sitting in a room while she’s doing it, just her and her guitar. And you tear up listening to the lyrics, and how emotional she gets during her songs, and how you could tell it’s straight from the heart.
I am going to give this EP a 9/10. Be sure to keep up with Juliet, I cannot wait til maybe a full-length, I can’t wait til the next EP, and most importantly I cannot wait to see all these songs performed live. If it’s stripped down, that would be a treat, but I cannot wait to see them full band as well.
