Geek Girl Riot revisits some recent binge-watch faves and introduce you to a new TV love!
Ted Lasso, Song Exploder, The Forty-Year-Old Version, Soulmates
Sherin starts off by telling Alex all about Ted Lasso, the sparkling new comedy series starring Jason Sudeikis on Apple TV+. Then Sherin and Alex dig into Song Exploder, the Netflix music documentary based on the popular podcast of the same name that is both inspiring and uplifting.
Our Rioters also shoutout Radha Blank and her new Netflix film The Forty-Year-Old Version, which is beautifully made and heartfelt to watch. Then they break down AMC’s new show Soulmates, which makes them ask philosophical questions about love and choices.
Utopia + American Barbecue Showdown + Camp Cretaceous
It’s time to dive into Utopia on Amazon, which takes a group of strangers on a wild ride when they find an unpublished sequel to a popular comic that predicts terrible global disasters…and they get more than they bargained for.
Then it’s time to show us the meat! Our dynamic duo talk about how delicious Netflix’s new cooking show The American Barbecue Showdown is. After that they head to Shrimp Camp! AKA Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, a Netflix animated series that is hard to pronounce but is full of heart and diversity (and dinos!).
Ratched + PEN15
Sherin and Alex took turns hiding behind their blankets to watch Ratched so they could fill you in on Ryan Murphy’s new psychological thriller/horror that has everybody talking. To close us out, Alex tells Sherin about season 2 of PEN15 on Hulu, which is every bit as cringe-y and hilarious and wildly naive as you remember being 13 years old was like.
