Geek Girl Riot is bringing you a new TV update—the good, the bad, and the we-got-a-lotta-feelings…and our Rioters get a lil silly & hyped up on eggnog.

Dash & Lily, Jingle Jangle, Alex Rider
First Sherin & Alex pour out some eggnog and dive into Dash & Lily, Netflix’s new YA romance that will have you all kinds of giddy. They continue the festivities with Jingle Jangle, a Netflix film (out Friday) that is a completely original Christmas story starring a Black family. Sherin says: “Jingle Jangle is a dream come true. A gift of exuberant, original, Black joy—told through magic and music. And the fact we get it for Christmas rings all the bells. Hopefully it’ll become a new holiday classic.”

To round out the love-fest, Sherin tells Alex all about Alex Rider, the IMDb TV + Amazon adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s gripping spy saga. Sherin says: “It is miserable in the best ways… What’s bad for Alex Rider is good for us because the danger is horrendous, you don’t know who to trust—it is wild!” Watch it on Friday!

Come Away, His Dark Materials, The Crown
Sherin tells Alex why Come Away is not a fairytale at all but rather a misery parade (in theaters Friday). Then Alex gives a sneak peek into His Dark Materials S2 and why the exploration of new worlds is going to thrill you when it hits HBO on November 16th. To close out this segment, our Rioters put the kettle on and discuss The Crown—S4 is out Friday and it’s heading to some interesting times in British history…

We Need to Talk About Cleopatra
It’s time for a remix reloaded segment! Day and Renee hop on with Sherin and Alex to break down the news that Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins are teaming up for a Cleopatra biopic. They have a whole lot of feelings about it (along with the rest of the internet) and give you a list of other queens of history they’d rather see represented on screen.
