Trying to decide what to watch this weekend? Our Rioters give you the lowdown on three picks for your consideration: The Flash, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and Elemental.
The Flash
The Flash is the new DC Studios movie coming to theaters on Friday and GGR dives into whether it lives up to all its buzz…for better or for worse. Sherin, Julian, Mae, and Drew get you ready to see it (or not) with a spoiler-free teaser, starting with the backstory on Flashpoint from the comics to give you some extra context.
Our hosts share their first reactions, before breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly. They get in-depth into the writing, the themes, and performances (including our beloved special sauce Michael Keaton). With their vast collective knowledge of DC and their widely varying opinions, prepare for a Riotous conversation.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
Next up Julian and Drew ring the Spoiler Siren and tell the others about Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is in theaters now. Is it a return to form? Do the characters live up to their legends? Does it live up to our childhood Autobot heroes? Julian and Drew spill the details—with a few sidebars, snide remarks, and throwbacks to the other Transformers movies along the way. Julian sums it up well: “It’s a Transformers movie with robots in the skies and a lot of rap music from 1994—so it’s a good one… And it probably has the best-made credits scene of all the movies I’ve seen this year that will get you hyped on another level (if you know it).”
Elemental
In the last segment, Soma jumps on with Sherin to get in their feels about Elemental, the new Pixar movie about a city full of (you guessed it) elements. They share what works and what doesn’t, comparing how it measures up to the other Pixar movies. Sherin says, “When something is so delightful and frothy like Elemental, sometimes you lose sight of what it is actually saying.” Watch it in theaters on Friday!
