Geek Girl Riot knows how to get away with murder. Answer is John Wick: Chapter 4 but the new Boston Strangler gets it done and considering how we felt about Shazam! Fury of the Gods…we’ll save that for later…but it did get us talking about DC Studios, THR’s interview with Ben Affleck, and David Ayer on Twitter.

DC Studios – Now Next
DC Comics has been a big part of both Sherin and Julian’s lives since their days on the school bus. That’s why they had to circle up and get into the conversation surrounding the new DC Studios, the past DCEU, and what Ben Affleck, and David Ayer had to say about their experiences.

John Wick: Chapter 4
If you read our review last week, you already know how Sherin feels about John Wick: Chapter 4. She says, “Director Chad Stahelski continues to deliver what I want from these movies: A ballistic ballet; playing out within an ever-expanding world of folklore and stylized mayhem. Give me more.” (which means, we had to slap it out of her hands like a puppy with a chocolate bar). Should we be bothered movie murder & mayhem please her so much? This week Julian gets a chance to share his thoughts on the latest Wick and if it’s fye or barely sparks. Here’s a taste, “A bit overlong but still with fantastic action set pieces, some fun new characters, and some unnecessary ones. That’s still a really fun action movie.”

Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is cute, the cast is great, and “it’s about family,” so why are Sherin and Julian making those faces? That’s why we make the show! But if you need a peek, Sherin did her best to give the latest DC superhero feature a boost, “Intermittently boring, sometimes funny, but at least it’s about family.” Julian added, “A mistake of a movie crafted with good intentions, but completely loses the core of this family of characters with its poorly thought out antagonists and journey.

Boston Strangler
Julian had more to say about Boston Strangler from Hulu and how the women the time (the 1960s), even the journalists, couldn’t get society to listen, “A well-shot & acted film about two women journalists trying to hold institutions accountable when they failed to protect the women of their city at their most vulnerable. Which in many ways connects now to what happened then.” That feels like deja vu. Are we having a flashback?
