We’re going to leave it up to the author himself to describe Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency: a “thumping good detective-ghost-horror-who dunnit-time travel-romantic-musical-comedy-epic”. Sound insane? Yup, pretty much, and there was only one man who could pull such a story off: Douglas Adams. In turn, there was nobody better suited to adapt it for the silver screen: British film producer Arvind Ethan David. From discovering the novel as a teenager, to putting it on as a school play, to Douglas Adams showing up to his college performance of it—Arvind’s life has been leading up until this moment. Geek Girl Riot’s Sherin Nicole and Day Al-Mohamed spoke to Arvid Ethan David for our latest Whachudoin’?, where you’ll hear about how everything is connected, his new TV show adaptation of Dirk Gently which debuted Oct 22 on on BBC America, and you’ll also hear him tell some incredible stories along the way.
