“What happened, Preacher? Jesus take your wheel?”

It’s very difficult to wait a whole week to watch just one episode (like, seven whole days. 168 hours we have to spare to do that math. MATH. Oh, the humanity). But sometimes, a show comes along that makes those 10,080 minutes in a week worth the wait, and that show is AMC’s Preacher. Based on Garth Ennis’ graphic novel series of the same name, the show revolves around the life of—you guessed it—a preacher in the deep south… but not all is as it seems. Enter a powerful something-or-other named Genesis, a few angels, oh, and a drunken Irish vampire and you just might be halfway there to understanding the plotline. To fill in the rest, Geek Girl Riot’s Sherin Nicole and Kat Bittner are here with a handy intro-style discussion of the show to drag you down the rabbit hole and get you ready to start watching Preacher immediately. Listen in as they dissect the colorful characters and their (sometimes Gordon Ramsay-esque) complexities, explain “The Voice” (not the TV show, although that won’t stop Adam Levine from being discussed), give you a taste of what to expect from their favorite scenes so far, and give you a ton of reasons why you should check out Preacher.

You’re ready to start watching this right now, aren’t ya? We can tell. Fortunately for you newbies, you can check out the trailer below, and you’ve got a whole seven episodes to catch up on, but hurry up because there’s a new episode on tonight at 9pm ET on AMC! And for everyone who’s already caught up and are waiting impatiently ’til tonight, well…carry on, we’re only a few hours away.
