Singer's Bodyguard Faces Weapons Charges


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The bodyguard for country singer Gretchen Wilson was charged Tuesday night with unlawful weapons possession while she was at the Country Music Association’s awards show. Police said they found at least four weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in the sport utility vehicle belonging to Daniel Lee Rhoades, 38, of Olive Branch, Miss. Officers said Rhoades also was carrying a 9 mm pistol and retractable police baton. Phish Fan Found Dead At Vermont Concert Identified


The body of a Phish fan found in a tent at this weekend’s Coventry festival has been identified as that of Ian Niles Gardiner, a 25-year-old from Bristol, Connecticut, according to Vermont State Police. The body was identified though fingerprint comparison conducted by the state’s forensic laboratory in Waterbury, Vermont. Gardiner’s body was discovered by fellow concertgoers when they returned to their tent after Phish’s final set early Monday morning. Phish Fans Stream Out After Final Show, Unidentified Fan Found Dead


Phish fans were streaming out of the concert site early Monday on their way home, and police reported no major traffic problems. Fans started leaving the band’s two-day festival on Sunday, even before Phish played its last set. More than 60,000 fans attended the band’s farewell concert. New York Dolls Bassist Dies at 55


Arthur Kane, original bass guitarist for the 1970s-era punk rock group New York Dolls, has died of complications related to leukemia. He was 55. Kane died Tuesday after being admitted to a Los Angeles hospital and diagnosed with leukemia, said band manager Darren Hill. “He didn’t even know,” Hill said Thursday. “It wasn’t until he went into the hospital that afternoon that they diagnosed that.” The New York native had been suffering from severe flu-like symptoms for several days, forcing him to back out of a July 11 reunion show in Manchester, England, Hill said. Courtney Love Hospitalized, Misses Court


Troubled rock star Courtney Love was taken to a New York hospital on her 40th birthday after missing an arraignment on an assault charge in California, her lawyer said. “It is not a suicide attempt, not drug-related, not drug-overdose related,” Michael Rosenstein said Friday. “It’s a gynecological medical condition for which she is receiving treatment.” Rosenstein and Love’s publicist did not return phone calls Saturday to update her condition.
