WWF And Hard Rock Go Together Like Bizkits, Gravy

Those WWF Smackdown spots just wouldn’t be the same without P.O.D.’s “Alive,” Creed’s “My Sacrifice” and Kid Rock’s “Cocky” blaring in the background. In many cases, shots of wrestlers powerbombing, chokeslamming and clotheslining one another are more captivating than the images in real rock videos. Let’s face it, loud rock and wrestling go together like salted bacon and farm-fresh eggs, the aggressive tones and violent visuals feeding off each other, creating a charged symbiosis of pumping testosterone. With over-the-top sound and sight, all you need is a sweat-and-blood-soaked rag under your nose to create the ultimate sensory experience. “Wrestling and… Read more »

Hyperactive headbanger Andrew W.K. has been invited by Ozzfest organizers to fill the slot vacated by the unnamed group featuring Chris Cornell and members of Rage Against the Machine. An offer was extended to the party proponent a few days ago, and although he has yet to RSVP while his camp works out the logistics of the trek, Andrew W.K. is enthusiastic about the possibility, his manager said. The Rage-Cornell project was forced to resign its main-stage position on Ozzfest ’02 four days after organizers announced the band’s inclusion on the bill, following Cornell’s announcement that he was “no longer… Read more »

Blink-182 Side Project Shoots Video, Plan Shows

Singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge has gone hippie, boy band and even naked for Blink-182 videos, but for the first clip with his new side project, he’s sticking with punk rock. The video for Boxcar Racer’s first single, “I Feel So,” is performance-based with “an old-school punk aesthetic,” according to the band’s MCA Records spokesperson. DeLonge and his bandmates – Blink drummer Travis Barker, Over My Dead Body guitarist Dave Kennedy and bassist Anthony Celestino – filmed the clip on Thursday at a studio in Burbank, California, with director Nathan “Karma” Cox, whose résumé includes videos for Linkin Park and System of… Read more »

If Rage Against the Machine fans harbored some anger before, they’re about to be really pissed. Fans hoping to catch the first glimpse of the new, Chris Cornell-fronted group on this summer’s Ozzfest will have to make do with the mental image they’ve built since the two parties began jamming together last year, as the former Soundgarden frontman has withdrawn from the project, effectively scrapping plans to participate in the annual summer metalfest. The disappointing news comes just days after the group, which had yet to settle on a name, was announced as one of Ozzfest’s mainstage attractions, along with… Read more »
