A 70 mph wind gust came out of dark clouds but with little other warning, blowing equipment, scaffolding and lights off an outdoor stage that one minute earlier was crowded with about 40 people. “To look at that stage, it is just totally amazing not a soul was lost,” Henry Nuxoll, co-organizer of the concert weekend called Godstock, said Sunday. With little pomp and no showboating, A Perfect Circle were all about the music in the first headlining performance in support of their upcoming album, Thirteenth Step. Aerosmith and Kiss launched their coheadlining tour on Saturday (August 2) at the Ctnow.com Meadows Music Center in Hartford, Connecticut. In perhaps his most memorable cameo since donning a furry dolphin suit at a Flaming Lips performance, Justin Timberlake joined Mick Jagger and the rest of the Rolling Stones onstage during the veteran rock band’s set at the concert for Toronto on Wednesday night. Fred Durst must have been having a really bad day when the Summer Sanitarium tour stopped outside Chicago Saturday. The Chicago Sun-Times describes Durst as having a tantrum on stage and ending Limp Bizkit’s set after just 20 minutes. The report says heckling fans throwing garbage gave Durst a rough reception. At first, Durst encouraged the abuse, then offered to fight anyone within earshot while yelling curses and sexual putdowns. Ozzy Osbourne was a no-show at Saturday night’s Ozzfest concert at the new White River Amphitheatre. There was no official explanation why Osbourne didn’t perform, but front man David Draiman told the crowd, “Keep Ozzy in your prayers tonight. Let’s hope he gets well soon.” Osbourne, whose family life is the subject of an MTV reality series, “The Osbournes,” was reportedly recovering from laryngitis, which had caused him to miss a few previous shows. The Ozzfest Web site said Osbourne’s doctor had ordered him to rest his vocal cords.
