Courtney Love’s solo show in New York on Wednesday night ended with the singer in police custody after she allegedly struck an audience member with her microphone stand. Love was arrested Thursday morning (March 18) at 2:30 a.m. after allegedly throwing a blunt object into the audience, hitting a 24-year-old man in the head, according to a New York police spokesperson. The victim, who was bleeding profusely, was taken to Cabrini Medical Center and is now in stable condition, police said. Love faces reckless-endangerment and third-degree assault charges. Fans at a Puddle of Mudd show in Toledo, Ohio, got a lot less than they bargained for Sunday night when frontman Wes Scantlin cut the band’s set short, announced he was too wasted to play and eventually found himself in police custody facing a disorderly conduct charge. Those in attendance said that a scant four songs into the band’s performance at Headliners club Scantlin’s bandmates walked off the stage, leaving a stumbling, hostile Scantlin alone. Rick Van Santen, a co-president of Goldenvoice, a Los Angeles concert promotion company that ushered punk rock from the fringes of the music scene to a wide audience, died last Sunday at his home in Ventura County of flu-related complications, his Goldenvoice partner Paul Tollett said. With the rollout of Napster 2.0, sales data of digital tracks takes another step north, resulting in OutKast’s “Hey Ya! Linkin Park’s upcoming DVD offers an up close and personal look at the band’s live show, but not as personal as it could’ve been. At Monday’s premiere of “Live in Texas,” guitarist Brad Delson said the band inserted a surgical camera inside singer Chester Bennington, but “it was kind of an invasive process. Quirky rock duo Ween has lined up a three-week European tour, kicking off Nov. 27 in Stockholm and wrapping Dec. 16 in Dublin. The group’s North American trek in support of its latest Sanctuary album, “Quebec,” hits Northampton, Mass. Oct. 28 and will run through a Nov. 7-9 stand at Chicago’s Vic Theater.
