DIRECTV Inc. will premiere an exclusive U2 television event in December free of charge to its more than 10.3 million residential and commercial customers. DIRECTV will roll out this commercial-free U2 broadcast as part of its DIRECTV ® FREEVIEW ® event series to customers beginning Saturday, December 1, and continuing throughout the month. For certain punks, there was no Bad Religion from 1996 through 2001. During that dark period, co-songwriter Brett Gurewitz split the seminal act he co-created with his pals in high school. In a major victory for Hollywood movie studios, a federal appeals court on Wednesday barred a Web site from revealing how to make unauthorized copies of digital video discs (DVDs). The Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled that the controversial 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) does not infringe on the free speech protections of the U.S. Constitution. There were actions in two other DMCA-related cases on Wednesday. Almost a week late, Britney Spears finally kicked off her Britney 2001 Tour Thursday night after the flu and a kink in her pre-production held her up.
