Hearing Date Set on Courtney Love's Bail


The judge in Courtney Love’s drug possession case set a July 23 hearing date Thursday on prosecutors’ request to have her bail set at $40,000. Prosecutors asked for the bail after Love failed to appear in downtown Los Angeles last Friday for arraignment in another case in which she is accused of hitting a woman with a bottle. Courtney Love Hospitalized, Misses Court


Troubled rock star Courtney Love was taken to a New York hospital on her 40th birthday after missing an arraignment on an assault charge in California, her lawyer said. “It is not a suicide attempt, not drug-related, not drug-overdose related,” Michael Rosenstein said Friday. “It’s a gynecological medical condition for which she is receiving treatment.” Rosenstein and Love’s publicist did not return phone calls Saturday to update her condition. Courtney Love’s solo show in New York on Wednesday night ended with the singer in police custody after she allegedly struck an audience member with her microphone stand. Love was arrested Thursday morning (March 18) at 2:30 a.m. after allegedly throwing a blunt object into the audience, hitting a 24-year-old man in the head, according to a New York police spokesperson. When Prince, ZZ Top and Jackson Browne are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, they won’t have to look far to see contemporary stars their music influenced. Singer Courtney Love showed up as scheduled in Los Angeles Superior Court Tuesday (February 17) for a hearing, prompting a judge to throw out an arrest warrant for her, according to the Associated Press. Judge Elden Fox issued the warrant last Tuesday (February 10) when Love failed to appear for the hearing, but allowed Love a week to comply before ordering her arrest. A judge placed on hold a bench warrant for Courtney Love after her lawyer’s explained why she skipped a court hearing on drug charges. Attorney William Genego told the judge that Love couldn’t make Wednesday’s hearing due to a “security” issue. He did not elaborate but said she was on call to appear as necessary.
