Police broke up a shoving match at a Springfield club after rapper 50 Cent and his entourage jumped from the stage during a surprise appearance and scuffled in the audience. Two people were arrested for disturbing the peace at the Hippodrome club early Saturday morning, said Springfield Police Capt. Charles Arpin. The Lynyrd Skynyrd/Sammy Hagar “Party Of A Lifetime” tour has come to an end, as Skynyrd has pulled out of the remaining dates due to guitarist Gary Rossington’s health. Rossington had open-heart surgery in February and was cleared to tour in support of their new album Vicious Cycle. However, Skynyrd dropped some shows in recent days because of Rossington’s medical fatigue, and they’ve now scrapped the rest of the coheadlining tour, after Rossington was diagnosed as having suffered a mild seizure. Bertelsmann said Monday it is seeking bids by the end of the week for its academic and professional publishing business, which the German media company intends to sell for about 1 billion euros ($1.06 billion) to cut debt. Bertelsmann expects “at least half a dozen” bids for its BertelsmannSpringer unit, spokesman Oliver Herrgesell said. Green Day will donate proceeds from its hometown concert in Oakland, California on April 29 to a local hospital that has played a role in the lives of all three of the band’s members. A fan who slipped in a puddle of urine and water at Soldier Field in Chicago while going for a bathroom break during a U2 concert was awarded $2.6 million on Tuesday (March 12). The man, Steven Chang, broke and disfigured his leg, forcing doctors to move his calf muscle just over his knee. In determining the award, the jury considered the fact that Chang was active, has disfigurement, underwent costly medical procedures, and had tremendous pain and suffering due to the injury. Stuart Adamson, lead singer and guitarist of ’80s pop band Big Country, was found dead in a Hawaii hotel room Sunday, according to the band’s manager, Ian Grant. A Honolulu hotel employee discovered Adamson’s body at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time, according to the police report. On Monday (December 17), the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be asphyxiation due to hanging. Adamson, 43, inexplicably left his Nashville home November 7, and missing persons reports were filed there and in Atlanta, where he watched a soccer match on November 15, according to reports posted on the Web site… Read more »
