London – A British judge on Wednesday banned the broadcast of video footage showing model Elizabeth Jagger engaging in “sexual activities” with her boyfriend in a nightclub. Jagger, daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and Texan supermodel Jerry Hall, sought the injunction against John Darling, manager of Kabaret’s Prophecy Nightclub in London. It’s a concept album of sorts, but since nothing with the Mars Volta is ever simple, Frances the Mute isn’t a concept easily explained. Not that the band won’t try. New York – Inside the giant factory of cool known as MTV headquarters, a crew of hip twentysomethings has been hard at work creating a two-headed monster. Tokyo – Sony Corp. reported Thursday a 55 percent rise in earnings for the October-December quarter on home entertainment revenue from “Spider-Man 2,” although its core electronics sector was battered by sluggish sales and price declines. The Tokyo-based electronics and entertainment giant said its group net profit for the fiscal third quarter totaled 143.8 billion yen ($1.4 billion), up from 92.6 billion yen a year earlier. Los Angeles – In a natural extension of its live-event business, Clear Channel Entertainment is moving into the music DVD market this spring. Clear Channel Entertainment Television, a division of CCE, has signed a multiyear DVD distribution deal with Ventura Distribution. Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based Ventura handles more than 60 home video product lines and has special-content units focusing on urban, family/pop and Latino titles. Ventura will release at least 12 music DVDs, culled from CCE concerts, in the next two years. All projects will be filmed in high-definition video and include extra features.
