Lisa Marie Presley Selling Elvis Estate


MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Lisa Marie Presley is keeping Graceland but selling the bulk of the Elvis estate, including rights to her father’s name and image, in a deal worth approximately $100 million. Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. announced an agreement Thursday to sell 85 percent of its assets to businessman Robert F.X. Sillerman, founder of music and sports promoter SFX Entertainment. The Presley estate brought in almost $45 million last year. Sillerman said more aggressive marketing, supported by capital raised through a new publicly traded company, can make Elvis an even bigger earner. Big bucks selling Bon Jovi stuff? No Such luck


Years ago, Alec John Such provided the backbeat for one of the biggest bands in the world as the bassist for Bon Jovi. But it’s been 10 years since he left the group, and he wants to move to a smaller place. So he decided to auction off a bunch of old memorabilia Sunday, the third such sale he’s held in recent years. Oops! girl Britney Spears was forced to cut short an encore after her concert last Thursday in Moline, Illinois, and cancel a Friday performance in Chicago after she hurt herself during a complicated dance routine. Spears was performing a new song, “Boom Boom,” when the mishap occurred, according to reports. Janet Jackson to Appear on Letterman Show


David Letterman, who got an eyeful of Courtney Love’s breasts during Wednesday’s “Late Show,” has booked another noted breast-barer, Janet Jackson. The singer will grant Letterman her first network TV interview on the “Late Show” on March 29, the show announced Thursday. Jackson Said Not to Qualify for Tax Break


Michael Jackson may not be able to beat it when it comes to the tax man. County officials have decided Jackson doesn’t qualify for an agricultural preservation tax break on his Neverland Ranch. The 2002-03 assessed value of Neverland Ranch is $12,292,618, resulting in taxes this year of approximately $13,000, according to the Santa Barbara County Assessor’s Office. Jackson receives a legal tax break because he leases land to a cattle rancher. Without the tax break, the assessed value of the property could be nearly 50 percent higher. Jimmy Eat World to Play Benefit


The members of pop-rock group Jimmy Eat World are coming back to their hometown Friday to play a benefit concert for victims of the Rodeo-Chediski wildfire. “It’s for the underinsured or the non-insured residents of the Heber-Overgaard area of Arizona which was pretty toasted by fires,” said singer-guitarist Jim Adkins. “Our drummer, his grandparents had a home over there that was destroyed.” The concert will be held at the Mesa Amphitheatre. The wildfire scorched about 469,000 acres and destroyed hundreds of homes in Heber-Overgaard and Linden this summer.
