Incubus have named their upcoming album Morning View, after the street on which they recorded it, guitarist Mike Einziger said Wednesday. Due October 23, the album will feature a blend of styles similar to their breakthrough 1999 release, Make Yourself. “It’s really musically diverse, but it’s not like a patchwork quilt with tons of pieces put together. It’s pretty seamless,” Einziger said backstage at the Area:One festival. “There are some very heavy moments, and there are some very melodic, beautiful moments on the record. Try as they might to display a more mature side as songwriters and lyricists, the members of Green Day – a third, fourth or maybe even fifth-generation punk band – are still working the same schtick that powered them to rock supremacy in the mid-1990s. Rancid, 311, and Pennywise will help kick off the 2001 model of the Vans Warped Tour Friday (June 22) in Phoenix. Other acts featured on the seventh edition of the venerable punk tour include Alien Ant Farm, Fenix TX, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, New Found Glory, radical country act Hank 3 & Assjack, and rapper Kool Keith. Incubus have broken camp after completing the sessions for their forthcoming release and are hitting the road. They’ll play a month of dates across Europe before joining Moby’s Area: One tour on July 11th in Atlanta. Though album and song titles are still being considered, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger mentions “Morning View” as a possible album title. It’s the name of the street where they recorded the album – in a Malibu Hills mansion.
