Timberlake, Beyonce top MTV VMA noms


Justin Timberlake and Beyonce lead the pop parade of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards with seven nods apiece, it was announced Tuesday. Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable” was nominated for video of the year, as was Timberlake’s ambitiously cinematic “What Goes Around … Comes Around,” which co-starred Scarlett Johansson. MTV service seeks revenue from fan remixes


In a nod to the ever-evolving world of Web 2.0, MTV is turning to a new source for cutting-edge music videos — fans. The company in June quietly introduced its free Video Remixer service, which enables users to create their own version of select videos using clips from the original video, archived MTV footage, photos and other media. MTV then airs the top-rated submissions. The first video available was Kelly Clarkson’s “Never Again” on June 5, followed shortly by Nelly Furtado’s “All Good Things (Come to an End)” June 29. MTV Taking VMA Awards Bash to Vegas


The MTV Video Music Awards are synonymous with debauchery, so it makes sense that the annual event has found a new home in Sin City – Las Vegas. After broadcasting from New York last year, the awards will air live from the Palms Casino Resort on Sept. 9.
