Warner Music Group Corp, the world’s third-largest music company, on Thursday posted a 58 percent drop in quarterly profit, hurt by an industry-wide slump in CD sales, as more fans bought songs online. Although Warner’s revenue rose 2 percent to $869 million in its fiscal fourth quarter, it declined 2 percent when taking out the impact of the weaker dollar. The company also posted weaker international sales, particularly in the United Kingdom. And according to the tabloids today, it looked as if Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz had joined the likes of Paris Hilton, Tommy Lee, and Pamela Anderson, as steamy footage of the bass-wielding star getting all saucy with a young lady started circulating on the Internet. VH1 is resurrecting back its “Pop Up Video” series in a mobile-only format starting Monday, the music cable network said. The original “Pop,” which stopped airing in 2002 on the Viacom-owned channel, featured music videos with informational bubbles that popped up with facts and trivia about the artists, song or related subject matter. The new installment of original videos, “Pop Up Video to Go,” will be offered cross carrier exclusively on VH1’s mobile network and will be updated weekly.
