Dashboard Confessional has left its support slot on Beck’s North American tour, effective immediately. The Chris Carrabba-led group played its final gig on the trek Saturday outside Denver. The move is being chalked up to “circumstances beyond our control” on Dashboard’s official Web site (http://www.dashboardconfessional.com), although sources indicate the band may have left the tour for financial reasons. Beck is currently spending time in San Francisco working on new material with producer Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, perhaps best known for his role as a behind-the-scenes member of the Gorillaz. The material is for the follow-up to Beck’s 1999 release, Midnite Vultures, according to the artist’s official website (beck.com). Fans will hear Aaliyah’s voice one more time on “I’m Music,” a previously unreleased duet with genre-hopping singer/songwriter Beck that will grace Timbaland and Magoo’s upcoming album.
