Fall Out Boy packs fans into St. Louis club

Before Fall Out Boy soared into the consciousness of the mainstream music world and Pete Wentz became a tabloid fixture, the Chicago-based band cut its teeth in dingy Midwestern clubs. Now, well-versed in pop superstardom and with a new album in the wings, the band returned to St. Louis last Tuesday for an intimate night at the tiny Creepy Crawl. The show was announced only a few days prior, and ticket sales were done day-of-show at the venue. Prior to doors opening, the line of patrons stretched around the building into a back alley, and those first in line were… Read more »

Plain White T’s Channel Weezer, Try to Top “Delilah”

Even with the overwhelming success of the acoustic ballad “Hey There, Delilah” last year – which earned the band two Grammy nominations – Plain White T’s lead singer Tom Higgenson says he’s been writing songs for the band’s next record since they finished their last one. Today, the Chicago-based quintet headed into a Malibu recording studio to begin work on their second major label album, the band’s fourth overall, which is expected to hit stores September 24th. While the band isn’t consciously trying to create a “Delilah Part II” (Higgenson points out all of the band’s albums have had slower… Read more »

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz is opening a punk-themed unisex beauty parlor in Chicago, according to the New York Daily News. Wentz will call it The Clandestine Industries salon. Head stylist Ben Mollin from Bravo’s “Shear Genius” is already booking appointments, but the first snips won’t happen until the hair cuttery opens in April. He has his own fashion line – Clandestine Industries Clothing (coming soon to your local Nordstrom) – and opened the Angels and Kings bar, in New York, last April with friends Gym Class… Read more »

Timba Lands a Family

Timbaland’s next musical collaboration might be a lullaby. The rapper-producer and fiancée Monique Idlett welcomed a baby girl a few days ago, People reported Tuesday. “They’re both really happy together,” a source told the magazine. “They’ve known each other for years.” Timbaland, whose real name is Tim Mosley, has hit the studio with a mind-boggling number of artists ranging from Dr. Dre to Duran Duran to Björk, but the visionary who helped bring “SexyBack” with Justin Timberlake hasn’t had much to say as far as his nonprofessional partnerships go. Fall Back Boy

Pete Wentz was treated to dinner a few months ago by Lyor Cohen, the renowned rap promoter and U.S. music chief of Warner Music Group. Wentz, 28, is the eyelinered heartthrob and bassist of punk band Fall Out Boy; but this dinner was in celebration of the hit single just released by another band, Panic! At the Disco, which records on Wentz’s own label, Decaydance. “He asked me, ‘What do you want out of life, Pete?’” Wentz says. His answer was flip: business cards. The next day he received a stack of cards listing his name and a new title:… Read more »

Pete Wentz On Fall Out Boy Tour Delay: 'It's A Health Issue, But Nothing Serious '

Five days after announcing that Fall Out Boy were postponing the Honda Civic Tour due to “personal issues” (a nebulous explanation that put the rumor mill into overdrive with a quickness), Pete Wentz would like to make several things clear: “No one has left the band, no one is dead, and no one is going to rehab,” he told MTV News late Monday. “I need that as a big pull-quote, man, because everyone thinks that. It’s the danger of language and the danger of the times we’re in. “It’s a health issue, but not a health issue that anyone needs… Read more »

Avril, Christina's Multiple Personalities

What’s up with all the different versions of Avril in her new video? Or, for that matter, Christina, Ciara and Beyoncé? Everywhere you look, it seems some pop diva has replicated herself so she’s the star of her clip several times over. Multiple versions are nothing new – Mariah and Madonna are old pros by now – but the idea has been spreading like a video virus, with Avril and others just the latest to be infected. It got us to thinking – are they copying themselves or someone else? Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” Avril Lavigne gets to have it both… Read more »

Fall Out Boy, 'High' on the Charts

Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz is far more recognizable than the average rock band bassist. With jet-black asymmetrical bangs, slightly smeared eyeliner and a toothy grin, Wentz certainly makes for a memorable image, but it’s his public antics that have created such an unforgettable impression. “I honestly don’t care what the perception is of me to the world,” says the 27-year-old, while sipping on a Starbucks’ vanilla latte on a rainy day in New York City. “It’s a weird thing to have come to, but after you’ve gone through the ringer so many times you don’t care. But I do… Read more »
