Madonna's Maverick Cries Foul Over Alleged Losses


The attorney for Maverick Records has dismissed as “hogwash” a claim by Warner Music Group (WMG) that Madonna’s label has lost $66 million since 1999. WMG’s claim is the latest wrinkle in a spat with Maverick’s principals – Madonna and Guy Oseary – over the value of the label and who will control it after this year. WMG has an option to buy the 60% of Maverick it does not currently own when the labels’ joint-venture agreement expires Dec. 31. Madonna Files Suit


The pop diva’s Maverick Records filed a $200 million lawsuit against Warner Music Group and Time Warner Inc. on Thursday, accusing the record label and its former parent company of breaching its contract through poor management and deceitful accounting which cost Madonna and her partners millions. Madonna Announces Summer 'Re-Invention' Tour


She has played material girl, sex kitten, theologian and anti-capitalist activist, and this summer Madonna is getting ready to reinvent herself again. The pop legend is in rehearsals for a summer swing through North America that she’s winkingly calling her Re-Invention Tour. The show will feature songs spanning her entire career, according to her management. Madonna’s tour will launch May 24 in Los Angeles and will run through August 1 in Miami. Madonna's Got A Brand New Bag – And Britney's In It


Madonna may have teamed up with Britney Spears recently to boost Britney’s latest single, but she’s making sure her own album doesn’t get neglected in the process – so she’s revisiting American Life on an upcoming EP. Remixed and Revisited, due November 25, will include seven songs, including one previously unreleased track, “Your Honesty,” a holdover from the Bedtime Storiesrecording sessions, co-written and co-produced by Dallas Austin. Suit Alleges Madonna Copied Photos


A fashion photographer’s son has sued Madonna, saying the singer copied his late father’s images in a set of videos for her song “Hollywood.” Samuel Bourdin claims he holds the rights to the images created by his father, Guy Bourdin, who died in 1991. The lawsuit, filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, accuses Madonna of copyright infringement for her imitation of poses and images in at least 11 works of Bourdin, whose photos were published in French Vogue from the mid-1950s through the late 1980s. Madonna to Guest on Spears Track


Madonna will appear on “Me Against the Music,” the first single from Britney Spears’ new album, “Get in the Zone,” out Nov. 18 on Jive. According to sources, the pair decided to collaborate as they were prepping their Aug. 28 MTV Video Music Awards appearance with Christina Aguilera. They then clearly sealed the deal with a kiss on the lips during their performance. The single, which was co-written by Spears, goes to radio Sept. 30. The video will debut Oct. 13 on MTV.
