Three weeks after narrowly surviving a Learjet plane crash that killed four people in South Carolina, including two of his pals, Travis Barker posted a message on his MySpace blog expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support he and fellow survivor DJ AM have received through their ordeal and giving an update on his condition. "Like the doctors said from the beginning, its [sic] been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday," the former Blink-182 drummer wrote Saturday. Jonas Brothers: No Mandates Against Fan Dates

Not that their tween legions needed any more fuel for their obsession, but the Jonas Brothers have just come up with a foolproof way of ensuring the loyalty of their minions: promising to marry their biggest fans. Of course, Kevin, Joe and Nick (who happens to be celebrating his Sweet 16 today) no doubt meant the biggest fans of their respective, private, individual selves–alas, the finer points of semantics have never been the forte of the young and hormonal. “The answer is YES,” the brothers collectively wrote in a post on their MySpace page in answer to fan-generated questions of… Read more »

Christian metal band Underoath eye chart glory

Underoath will on Tuesday release its fourth album, “Lost in the Sound of Separation.” It’s the follow-up to 2006’s  “Define the Great Line,” which debuted at No. 2 without any significant radio play or mainstream push; it has sold 366,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Instead of the typical avenues of exposure, the Florida band has relied on a fierce, two-pronged model of touring and  Internet… Read more »

Label Done Waiting for Jared Leto's 30 Seconds

It’s 30 Seconds to Mars. And about half that to file a lawsuit. Jared Leto and his bandmate brother, Shannon, were sued Friday by Virgin Records America for failing to come through on a five-album deal the eyelinered duo and the now-defunct indie label, Immortal Records, inked with the plaintiff nine years ago. While Leto used a couple of those years to appear in movies like Girl, Interrupted and American Psycho, his band eventually got the ball rolling with its 2002 self-titled debut. The alt-rockers followed that up with 2005’s A Beautiful Lie. But since their sophomore effort, according to… Read more »
