Danish buzz band the Raveonettes will release their full-length debut, Chain Gang of Love, on September 2nd. The album follows the group’s acclaimed 2002 EP Whip It On, a twenty minute collection of three minute, noirish garage rock songs recorded entirely in B-flat minor, with no song featuring more than three chords. The duo – guitarist/vocalist Sune Rose Wagner and bassist/vocalist Sharin Foo – recorded the album last fall and winter with Wagner splitting production duty with Richard Gottehrer, who has worked with Blondie, the Go-Go’s and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. In true DYI form, MxPx have been busy as heck since the release of THE EVER PASSING MOMENT three years ago. Aerosmith and Kiss launched their coheadlining tour on Saturday (August 2) at the Ctnow.com Meadows Music Center in Hartford, Connecticut. They’ve already finished their next record and they won’t be hitting the road with Kiss for another three weeks, so Aerosmith have been keeping busy with various side projects. Last week frontman Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry contributed music to a piece that Public Enemy’s Chuck D wrote for the introduction to the ESPY Awards. Godsmack takes over the Billboard 200 with a No. 1 debut for “Faceless,” and leads the charge of seven top-20 entries on the album chart. The Universal album sold 269,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, giving the band its best debut week on the chart. The Beastie Boys will perform April 25 at Las Vegas’ House of Blues, in a show that will serve both as a tribute to slain Run-D.M.C.
