Recording academy to settle sex abuse claim


The board of the academy that presents the Grammys, the music industry’s highest honors, has approved a $650,000 payment to settle claims that its chief executive sexually assaulted and physically abused a female employee, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and representatives of academy president and chief executive, Michael Greene, had no comment on the report, which cited Grammy sources. “We don’t have a statement. Music's Grammy Awards set for Los Angeles


The Grammy Awards, the top honors in the music industry, will take place in Los Angeles next year, the city’s mayor said Wednesday, even as organizers wonder how to announce the winners of the Latin Grammys, which were canceled following the Sept. 11 attacks. “In keeping with tradition, the City of Los Angeles is looking forward to hosting the Grammys for the fourth consecutive year,” Mayor Jim Hahn said in a statement. The hombres in ‘NSYNC have forked over their Spanish-language version of “This I Promise You” to help Madonna kick-start her Latin-music label. “Yo Te Voy a Amar” will appear on the dance pop collection pLATINum rhythm, due October 30 on Maverick Musica. ‘NSYNC performed the number at the inaugural Latin Grammys last year but have not released the song commercially. Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez has married choreographer Cris Judd in a private ceremony near Los Angeles, her spokesman confirmed Sunday. The nondenominational ceremony took place Saturday evening at a private residence in Calabasas and was attended by about 170 guests, said Alan Nierob, a spokesman for Lopez. “It was beautiful. Latin Grammy Awards Won't Be Rescheduled


The second annual Latin Grammy Awards, which were moved from Miami to Los Angeles over security concerns and then canceled last Tuesday after terror attacks in New York and Washington, will be not be rescheduled, it was announced Friday.
