EMI Group emerged on Tuesday from a dismal year of slumping profits confident that things could only get better, but the music giant’s shares spun lower as a glum industry outlook rattled already jangled nerves. The EMI-owned label certainly has to hope the Minogue revival – her album “Fever” has sold 250,000 copies in three weeks of release in the U.S., and the single “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” has sold nearly 3 million worldwide – portends a solid spring for its established stars. The soundtrack to the vampire movie Blade II has been finalized. The compilation will feature hip-hop/electronic pairings of Fatboy Slim and Eve, Redman and Gorillaz, and Mos Def and Massive Attack, and others. “I liked his stuff, but had never done anything with him,” Eve says of her collaboration with Fatboy on the track “Cowboy.” “It came out really hot. I’d like to work with other producers like that.” The Blade II soundtrack is due March 19th. The tentatively titled “Serart” is slated for release next year on Tankian’s own Serjical Strike Records. Though making last year’s Return of Saturn was a long, often straining process for No Doubt, the band has learned to loosen up for its successor. Incubus have broken camp after completing the sessions for their forthcoming release and are hitting the road. They’ll play a month of dates across Europe before joining Moby’s Area: One tour on July 11th in Atlanta. Though album and song titles are still being considered, Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger mentions “Morning View” as a possible album title. It’s the name of the street where they recorded the album – in a Malibu Hills mansion.
