'Slumdog' composer Rahman wins 2 Oscars


LOS ANGELES — In just one night, Indian film composer A.R. Rahman equaled the number of Oscars his fellow Indians had taken home during the first 80 years of the Academy Awards. Diddy Sued for Assault at Pre-Oscars Party


Diddy has been sued by a man who alleges that the rap impresario attacked him at a pre-Oscars party last week. According to a Reuters report, Gerard Rechnitzer claims in the suit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court that Diddy (born Sean Combs) pushed and punched him during the early-morning scuffle. In the suit, Rechnitzer, 27, claims he and his girlfriend ran into Combs at the club Teddy’s inside the Roosevelt Hotel in the early morning hours of February 25. Prince to Present Oscar at Ceremony


New York – Oscar and Grammy winner Prince will be among the presenters Sunday at the 77th Academy Awards, to air live on ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. It will be his first time as a presenter on the telecast, Oscar ceremony producer Gil Cates said Wednesday. Prince won an Oscar for original song score in 1985 for “Purple Rain.” Earlier this month, he won two Grammy Awards. Presenters also will include Sean Penn, John Travolta, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman and Tim Robbins.

Eminem Wins Oscar for Best Song


Rap star Eminem won the Academy Award for best movie theme song on Sunday for “Lose Yourself” from his semi-autobiographical film “8 Mile.” Eminem’s hit anthem beat out entries from music luminaries U2, Paul Simon and songs from the films “Chicago” and “Frida.” Luis Resto, one of the co-writers of the song, accepted the Oscar on behalf of Eminem, who won critical acclaim for his portrayal of an up-and-coming rapper struggling to make it out Detroit’s mean streets. “He’s creative, he has symphonies in his head,” Resto said of the controversial rapper. “He’s a good man, good heart.”

Eminem Will Not Perform At The Oscars


Rapper-actor Eminem will not perform his Oscar-nominated hit, “Lose Yourself,” at the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony. U2, Simon Likely to Perform at Oscars


U2 and Paul Simon will likely perform their Oscar-nominated songs at the March 23 ceremony, Oscars producer Gil Cates said. “We don’t have any complete confirmations today as to who will perform but it is likely that U2 will perform because their schedule allows for it.
