Two Birthday Tributes Planned For Joey Ramone


Two New York tribute events are in the works for May 19, which would have been late Ramones frontman Joey Ramone’s 51st birthday, Billboard.com has learned. Ramone’s mother Charlotte Lesher and brother Mickey Leigh are organizing a benefit concert at the Bowery Ballroom, which will raise funds for the not-for-profit Joey Ramone Cure for Lymphoma fund. Compensation Breakdown: Zeppelin Sue Label Over Royalties


There’s not a whole lotta love lost between the surviving members of Led Zeppelin and their former label, Atlantic Records. Last week, vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones filed suit against the company, claiming they have only been paid one-quarter of the royalties owed to them for 42 of their most famous tracks, including “Whole Lotta Love” and “Stairway to Heaven,” the London Observer reported. Jones’ manager confirmed the suit, but couldn’t provide further details, and Page’s and Plant’s management refused to comment. Bastions of ’90s punk Green Day and Blink-182 will embark on a co-headlining jaunt, beginning April 17 in Bakersfield, California. Ozzy Osbourne, on his first tour of Japan in four years, will tape his performance Friday at Tokyo’s legendary Budokan Hall for a live album and DVD. Live at Budokan, a title most music fans associate with Cheap Trick’s bombastic 1979 live effort, is scheduled for a summer release. Sonic Youth Reissuing LPs With Bonus Tracks, Working On New Album


A decade after the release of their most popular album, Dirty, dissonant art rockers Sonic Youth are reissuing the disc along with two of their other titles as double-CDs bloated with bonus material. Dirty, Goo (1990) and Daydream Nation (1988) will be issued before summer by Universal with all of the original tracks remastered, along with previously unheard demos, live cuts and B-sides, the band’s publicist said. Cartoon hip-hop/popsters Gorillaz are going on tour, confirming nine North American stops, beginning February 23rd in Toronto, in support of their platinum self-titled debut.
