A group of Seattle singers organizing a series of worldwide performances of Mozart’s “Requiem” for Sept. 11 say they have gotten thousands of e-mails in support of the idea. “The heartfelt nature of their responses is remarkable,” said Madeline Johnson, chairwoman of the Rolling Requiem Committee and a member of the Seattle Symphony Chorale. “It shows there is a worldwide longing to give voice to healing, to hope, to love.” Thirty choirs from around the world have signed up to take part in the “Rolling Requiem” and many more are considering joining, Johnson said. Silverchair’s Diorama is a dramatic change of sound for a band once dubbed “Nirvana in Pyjamas”. Diorama bares little resemblance to Silverchair’s grungy past. If we had any hints where they were going on previous records, then ‘Emotion Sickness’ off Neon Ballroom comes to find. A mohawked Eddie Vedder put the regal Waldorf-Astoria hotel in a punk rock state of mind Monday night when he inducted the Ramones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Silverchair has completed work on their eagerly anticipated label debut. The album – titled “DIORAMA” – is currently slated to be released in North America on July 9th. Their first new album in three years, “DIORAMA” is unquestionably Silverchair’s most multi-dimensional work to date.
