Pressplay hopes to run on Macintosh this year


Pressplay, a Web music service owned by Sony Corp. and Vivendi Universal Thursday said it hopes to make its online service available to Apple Computer Inc.’s Macintosh computers sometime this year. “We are hoping that sometime this year that Pressplay will be available (on Macs), although we can’t guarantee,” said Andy Schuon, chief executive officer of Pressplay, during a conference call hosted by research firm Jupiter Media Metrix. Heads of other subscription services such as Pressplay’s big label-backed rival MusicNet and independently owned FullAudio and Listen.com also joined the call. According to an interview in the German magazine Visions, Bizkit’s Fred Durst contacted Trent Reznor’s management to ask if he would be open to producing a few tracks. Sirius Announces $158 Million Financing


Sirius Satellite Radio, the satellite radio broadcaster, today announced it priced a public offering of common stock resulting in gross proceeds of approximately $158 million. The transaction is being underwritten by Lehman Brothers. Sirius will sell 16 million shares of its common stock at a public offering price of $9.85 per share, and has granted the underwriter an over-allotment option to purchase an additional 2.4 million shares of common stock.
