Zac Efron's Bod Heats Up the Chemistry

Watch your back, Vanessa Hudgens! Your High School Musical costar Monique Coleman wants to get sweaty with your boy, Zac Efron. Hudgens actually has nothing to worry about. Coleman just thinks it would be a hoot if she and newly fitness-buffed Efron worked out together, because she’s about to start training as a relay runner for the upcoming Malibu Triathlon, which raises money for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “That would be so cute,” Coleman told me today. “I keep seeing all those [paparazzi] shots of Zac, and I’m like, Look at him being all grown up.” Coleman and the rest… Read more »

Spears loses custody of kids to K-Fed

Britney Spears was derailed yet again in her struggle to get her life back on track, losing custody of her two sons to ex-husband Kevin Federline. A court commissioner Friday gave sole physical and legal custody of the former couple’s two little boys to Federline and suspended the troubled pop star’s visitation rights. Spears was hauled away from her home to a hospital by paramedics a day before, after police had to intervene when she refused to return the children to Federline after a court-monitored visit. Commissioner Scott Gordon ordered another hearing to be held Jan. 14. Federline had previously… Read more »

Diverse spring tours target college kids

Stress runs rampant among college kids this time of year, but the Door to Dorm tour, the College Mega tour and Campus Invasion Music Festival are aiming to give students some springtime musical relief. Hinder will headline the Door to Dorm outing, which hits 17 colleges and three music festivals starting April 13 at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown, Pa. The group’s drummer, Cody Hanson, jokes that nonstop worldwide touring for its 2005 album “Extreme Behavior” has made the quintet “severe alcoholics,” but that won’t prevent the Oklahoma City act from throwing a party for its hardcore college fan… Read more »

Sum 41 Teach The Kids Some New Words – Review

Toronto, Ontario – Oh, Sum 41, how far you’ve come. Despite this show making up for a previously cancelled one, Ajax’s favourite sons were greeted by a full house of hardcore kids, girls in tiny tube tops, drunken frat boys and little pop-punkers firmly protected by a designated parent. One had to wonder whether those parents were routinely covering their poor child’s ears, given all the less-than-all-ages language that was being tossed around. “Sorry Mom, sorry Dad, your kids are going to be learning some new words tonight!” An appropriate warning coming from frontman Deryck Whibley, who would proceed to… Read more »

McCartney Plays It Safe at Super Bowl

New York – Nobody, but nobody was worried when Paul McCartney stripped off his jacket midway through his halftime performance at the Super Bowl. All he revealed was a long-sleeved red shirt. Nothing malfunctioned. And if he wore any nipple jewelry, he mercifully kept it to himself. NFL officials wanted a safe halftime show after last year’s Janet Jackson fiasco, and McCartney delivered. It was sweet nostalgia for the people stunned by Jackson’s MTV-produced spectacle, if a bit off-putting for the kids: Each of his four songs was more than 30 years old. Surely you recall last year’s climax to… Read more »

Who Needs Sting? Police Alumni Rock for the Kids

Los Angeles – Out of the blue comes an e-mail from my brother, Miles: “All confirmed. Rehearsals are next Friday, and your show with Andy Summers and Incubus at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas will be on Sunday.” Whaaaat? I dimly remember Miles mentioning something about this radio concert, months ago. At the time I said, “Wow, cool,” and then forgot about it. So I’m thinking about it now, a little panicked, and figure, what the heck? Of course, I had better dig out my drums and try to get some life into my wrists. I remember too vividly getting… Read more »

Razorlight Frontman Gives Up Drugs For Rock Dreams

Many artists say the greatest reward is to have an effect on people’s lives. Johnny Borrell, 24-year-old frontman for Razorlight, won’t settle for merely having an effect, he wants his music to save the lives of others. After all, it was his music that saved his life. When he was 17, Borrell started shooting heroin, and for the next two years, he made a daily habit of shooting up and snorting cocaine. Over time, he lost most of his friends, some who overdosed, and some who couldn’t stand watching Borrell destroy himself. It was only after he decided to mold… Read more »

Good Charlotte Singer Heats Up Duff/ Lohan Beef

Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden has allegedly gotten into the middle of the beef between Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff. Backstage at last Friday’s Z-100 Jingle Ball radio festival in New York, the pop-punk singer refused to give Lohan’s 8-year-old brother an autograph until she publicly apologized to Duff for their ongoing war of words, according to an eyewitness. Lohan’s brother Cody and his friend approached Madden, who had performed that evening with Good Charlotte, and asked for an autograph, the witness said. When Duff, who has been romantically linked to Madden, told him who the kids were, Madden told Cody… Read more »
