Los Angeles – Rock band 3 Doors Down earned its first No. 1 on the U.S. pop albums chart Wednesday with its latest CD, “Seventeen Days.” The Republic/Universal release sold 231,000 copies in the week ended Feb. 13, according to Nielsen SoundScan, the best sales week of the band’s career. New York – Christmas sales came in the nick of time, saving the holiday selling season for most merchants at the last minute. After playing under a crumbling roof in the “Addicted” video, Simple Plan are moving on top of a more stable one for the follow-up. System of a Down are on a Los Angeles soundstage shooting a video for the title track to their near-double-platinum second album, Toxicity. Bassist Shavo Odadjian is taking his first turn as director with the aid of veteran Marco Siega, who, in addition to helming clips for Blink-182 and Papa Roach, also crafted System’s TRL standard, “Chop Suey.” The prog-metal quartet has recalled the 200 black-clad fans who populated the “Chop Suey” video to mosh on command for this latest clip. One of rock’s more upbeat bands, Blink-182, will scrub dour rockers Staind from their three-week reign atop the Billboard 200 albums chart next week. Blink-182’s new album, Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, which boasts the radio hit “Rock Show,” sold nearly 350,000 copies last week and will land at #1, according to SoundScan data released Wednesday (June 20). The album, Blink-182’s fourth studio effort, will be their first to reach #1.
