Underoath is taking to the road for a seven-week tour beginning next Thursday (Feb. 22) at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa. As previously reported , the trek comes on the heels of drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie’s tour with his side project, the Almost. Switchfoot’s new Columbia album “Oh! Gravity” is pulling the band onto the road for an extensive North American tour in February and March. Labelmate Copeland will open. The trek begins Feb. 14 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Calif., and wraps March 31 in the quintet’s San Diego homebase. Despite this show making up for a previously cancelled one, Ajax’s favourite sons were greeted by a full house of hardcore kids, girls in tiny tube tops, drunken frat boys and little pop-punkers firmly protected by a designated parent. Toronto, Ontario – Strutting onstage in unison, the five founding members of Duran Duran – on their first major arena tour since reforming in 2001 – looked suspiciously like an aged version of the Backstreet Boys. Thankfully, the opening chords of “Reach Up For The Sunrise” from their 2004 release Astronaut announced that this would be a genuine rock concert and that the only onstage dancing would come in the form of singer Simon LeBon’s spastic, Elaine Benes-like gyrations. New York – Singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne will spend most of the summer on the road in North America, beginning July 13 in London, Ontario, and wrapping Sept. 3 in Montreal. Gavin DeGraw and Butch Walker will serve as opening acts at various points, as well as other yet-to-be announced artists.
