As the MTV Video Music Awards rocked New York City Thursday (August 28), Hanson was on the other side of the country performing their first of two sold-out acoustic shows at the Roxy in Los Angeles. The trio performed songs from its upcoming third studio album Underneath. Hanson is also scheduled to perform at the Roxy on Saturday (August 30), and then at the House Of Blues in Anaheim on Sunday (August 31). Godsmack is currently in Hawaii working on an acoustic EP, which is slated to be released on November 18. The band is recording some brand new tunes for the still-untitled album, and the collection will also feature re-workings of several of Godsmack’s biggest hits. Vocalist/songwriter Sully Erna and crew are currently mulling over which of their songs they will include and what treatment to give them so they sound different from the original recordings. In their debut video, for the song “Get Free,” the Vines perform in a lightning storm and are eventually struck by the fiery bolts. So being the targets of a food fight for their next video, “Outtathaway!,” was a cake walk. “It’s not as bad as lightning,” frontman Craig Nicholls agreed while backstage at rehearsals for the MTV Video Music Awards. “We almost died doing the first one, but it looked good. Staind is getting ready to release a DVD, which will feature music videos, an acoustic session, and backstage interviews with the band. The still-untitled collection is tentatively scheduled for a November 20 release.
