The Yahoo! Outloud Tour is set to kick off this coming Wednesday, February 21 in Austin, Texas. The tour will launch with an EXCLUSIVE video chat with tour headliners Weezer LIVE from Austin, TX on Tuesday, February 20, 9 PM ET on the official Yahoo! Outloud Web site (http://outloud.yahoo.com).
The Yahoo! Outloud Tour has proved to be a successful collaboration between Yahoo!, Weezer, Ticketmaster, and venue promoters illustrating the power of the Internet as an effective entertainment marketing tool. An unprecedented 90 percent of tickets for the 20-city tour sold out exclusively online, including shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Yahoo! is also giving fans a truly unique online music experience with the Outloud Web site, which features digital tour diaries, interviews, a live webcast, downloadable music, and contests. Fans who can’t make it to a Yahoo! Outloud show will still have the opportunity to enjoy the concert experience no matter where they live.
In addition to Weezer, the tour features support act The Get Up Kids who landed the slot on the tour after they were chosen by a poll of fans on Weezer’s official Web site. Yahoo! listened to the fans, who voted The Kids as their #1 choice to see play with Weezer, and offered them a spot on the tour.
