The wait is finally over—Waterparks’ sixth studio album, JINX, is out today. The last three years have felt like an eternity between their 2023 album INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY and JINX. Thankfully, Waterparks released a pretty hefty string of singles leading up to the new album. “RED GUITAR,” “IF LYRICS WERE CONFIDENTIAL,” “ANY MINUTE NOW,” “PROWLER,” and “BETTER THAN THERAPY” covered a large scope of sound, making big promises for what to expect from JINX. Now that the album has arrived, it is everything we hoped it would be.
The trio explores all the sonic spaces we’d expect from their discography over the years while diving into new territory as well. Fans can expect their pure pop-rock sound, layered with more experimental electronic elements, heavy cacophonies, and the quintessential somber moments. The release day single, “TELL ME WHY” is an odyssey of elements, exploring an entire narrative of life and death. Certainly a hell (no pun intended) of a way to open an album and gear you up for what is to come.
