Warner Music Canada has a new boss. The music label just announced that Steve Kane has been named as the new President of the company. Kane will start his new job on January 1, 2004.
Kane isn’t new to Warner – he’s been working as the Senior Vice President and Managing Director since 2001. The new gig will see him overseeing the day-to-day operations of the whole company as well as acting as a liaison to Paul Rene Albertini, the President of Warner Music International.
Kane comes to the job with a pretty kickin’ resume. He’s already had Senior Vice President gigs at Universal/Island/DefJam Canada (1998-2001) and Polygram Canada (1997). Before that, he had high level positions at I.R.S., A&M and Virgin.
“I am excited about the opportunity to run Warner Music Canada during this exciting time in the industry,” Kane said in a statement. “I am looking forward to working closely with Paul Rene and his team to meet the challenges facing our business and to future successes for Warner Music International.”
Since joining Warner in 2001, Kane has been responsible for bringing some hit acts to the label. Recent successes include the signings of Billy Talent, Buck 65 and popular crooner Michael Buble.
