Ticketmaster, the world’s leading ticketing and access company, announced today that Briggs Ferguson has been appointed to the position of president of Citysearch.
Ferguson will assume responsibility for all aspects of the Citysearch business including the overall management and strategic direction of Ticketmaster’s national and international city guide business. Ferguson will report to John Pleasants, Ticketmaster’s president and chief executive officer.
An experienced industry veteran, Ferguson joins Ticketmaster following his tenure as executive vice president, marketing and product strategy for Launch, the music division of Yahoo! Inc. In this role, Ferguson was responsible for several operating divisions including Launch.com, Warped tour, Launch Radio Networks and CD ROM. His efforts helped drive Launch to become the #1 music web site during his tenure. Prior to that, Ferguson spent nine years with EMI Music, most recently as senior vice president of marketing and product strategy where he oversaw marketing efforts for EMI’s U.S. music labels.
“Briggs joins Ticketmaster with an impressive track record and the extensive industry expertise required for the aggressive growth of our Citysearch business unit,” said John Pleasants, president and chief executive officer of Ticketmaster. “He brings a strong marketing and product sensibility to our team and demonstrates a solid balance between critical thinking, instinct, decisiveness and action. I have confidence that he will lead us to realize the full potential of our Citysearch business.”
“The opportunity to participate in the innovation and growth of Citysearch is one that I look forward to with great anticipation,” said Ferguson. “While the road ahead will certainly be filled with challenges, I believe in the extraordinary product Citysearch offers consumers and will leverage my talents and expertise to continue to drive revenue, further broaden the appeal of the site and increase overall usage while improving the consumer experience.”
Ferguson is a graduate of Dartmouth College and will be based in Los Angeles, California.
