It’s time to pour one out, a Duff Beer, that is…because one Simpsons character has officially died. On a November 16 episode of the longest-running animated show, the writers wrote off none other than Alice Glick, the First Church organist.

It was a quick death, as she died doing what she loved—playing the organ during Sunday worship. She first appeared on the show in their season 2 episode “Three Men and a Comic Book.” Originally voiced by Cloris Leachman, the character was later picked up by Tress MacNeille.

Notably, The Simpsons executive producer Tim Long exclusively shared with PEOPLE Magazine: “In a sense, Alice the organist will live forever, through the beautiful music she made. But in another, more important sense, yep, she’s dead as a doornail.”

It is vital that Long notes this as Glick was seemingly killed off in season 23 via robot seal, but she did, in fact, revive to appear in subsequent seasons.

Excitingly, idobi Radio recently hosted Simpsons royalty on Cone’s Cave. Hank Azaria dropped by the show to explain how he arrived at his voice for Moe the bartender. Check out the clip and listen to more Cone’s Cave here.
