What’s that old saying – behind every great man there is an even greater woman? Well, that certainly seems to be the case with legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his manager/wife Sharon. Despite her aging husband’s drug addiction, hip problems and overall incoherence, Sharon Osbourne has kept the Ozzman’s feet firmly planted in the heart of the entertainment world. Aside from managing his hectic touring schedule, Sharon also finagled a reality-TV deal with MTV, allowing cameras to capture all the cursing, craziness, and, well, more cursing that fills the Osbourne home on a daily basis.
Of course, the season is over now, leaving an empty void in all our lives that can only be filled by more Osbournes. And as luck would have it, America’s favourite dysfunctional family has signed on for another season of The Osbournes. That’s another 20 episodes of unintelligible mumbling, intelligible swearing and all sorts of other wacky adventures in the lives of Kelly, Jack, Sharon, and Ozzy.
Fresh out of rehab, 17-year-old Jack Osbourne will be back home and theoretically sober for the upcoming fall filming. Jack checked himself into rehab after realizing the extent of his addiction to the painkiller OxyContin.
Kelly is also emulating dear old dad by attempting to break into the rock industry. Of course, Kelly’s heavy reliance on post-production effects and voice manipulation is a far cry from Ozzy’s raw, seasoned screaming, but that’s not keeping the big labels away. Sony decided to hop on board last November for the release of Kelly’s debut CD, and her hit single “Shut Up” became an anthem for ‘tweens across the globe.
Aimee Osbourne – also known as “the other daughter” – is still choosing to steer clear of the reality-TV fame train that her siblings are currently riding. Instead, Aimee is trying her hand at acting in MTV’s film version of Wuthering Heights, which is scheduled to air on September 4.
And as for Ozzy, he’s still rockin’ the tour circuit: Ozzfest 2003 kicks off in San Antonio in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, there are no Canadian dates this year.
