The Hails are tackling a major issue on their new track “Ducks On The Pond.” That issue? Online gambling. From mobile sports betting apps to prediction markets, people are getting dopamine hits from playing on their phones and avoiding the casino entirely…sigh.
Lead singer Robbie Kingsely shares of the song and its lyrics: “‘All my people want submission, come on people be submissive’ is a sarcastic attack on the modern psyche of people, particularly young men, who willingly dive into the pitfalls of online gambling. As we observe our generation and the ones coming up, it’s glaringly obvious that no one actually cares if they’re developing bad habits or wasting their time and money—we just want that quick hit to give us life and help the days move on.”
The indie rockers will share the single on their forthcoming sophomore album Duckpond, available everywhere on October 23, via ONErpm.

Of the forthcoming LP, guitarist Dylan McCue specifies, “I think this is as creatively vulnerable and liberated as we’ve been in a very long time.”
Kingsley adds, “It was something that was created completely all together. It really feels like this is truly what The Hails have to offer. This isn’t what Robbie plus a few guys or Franco [Solari] plus a few guys has to offer—this is what these collective guys known as The Hails are trying to offer together.”
