Switchfoot Continues to Heat Up

The San Diego rock group Switchfoot are continuing to make an extraordinary impact with their Columbia/RED Ink debut “The Beautiful Letdown.” The album debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #85 the first week of its release and is still currently on the chart at #187, with sales nearing the 100,000 mark. Switchfoot have embarked on a U.S. headlining tour over the last three months, selling out nearly every show well in advance, in top markets including New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Chicago, Nashville and recently in Los Angeles at both The House of Blues on June 13th as well as The Roxy this past April, which marked the second time the band sold-out the legendary Hollywood club in less than 3 months.

Switchfoot also made their national television debut on May 5, 2003 when they performed their first single, “Meant To Live,” on The Late, Late Show with Craig Kilborn. “Meant To Live” has been steadily gathering heavy spins at radio across the country. Heavyweight stations including WHFS/Washington DC, WMRQ/Hartford, KWOD/Sacramento, KFSD/San Diego, KEDJ/Phoenix, KLBJ/Austin and others have added the song into rotation. In addition, the music has been getting play on MTV2’s “Rock Show” as well as Much Music USA’s “Oven Fresh” show.

Prior to the release of “The Beautiful Letdown”, the quartet laid the ground work for their success with years of intense touring and three independent album releases, which have gone on to sell an amazing 400,000 copies. They quietly gained a devoted fan base and garnered many impressive honors including numerous San Diego Music Awards, a Grammy nomination in 2001, MTV2 video airplay and the inclusion of five songs on the platinum selling soundtrack for the film “A Walk To Remember.”

Switchfoot will continue their US tour through September, with more dates to be announced shortly.
